Firstly, its a year to the day since my braces went on or its tomorrow, depending on how you wanna work it out!! – 19th January 2015 🙂 I thought it would drag but its absolutely flown!!! Will post comparison photos at the end!! 🙂
So, for a few weeks now, Ive been dreading todays appointment because it was impressions (moulds)Â day and last time I had them done it tasted vile and I was gagging constantly however today was much better.
I arrived at the desk to book in and the girl who normally fixes my broken brackets was stood by the receptionist and we always have a nice chat. Shes the one who always talks through what shes doing and I feel at ease with her. She said ‘ooo you’re my next patient’. I said ‘ahh have I got impressions today? That’s my understanding anyway’ She said she hasn’t had a look at my notes yet. I said ‘okay, also can I book a February appointment please as my 1st Feb appointment has been cancelled and I haven’t had a new one through yet. I don’t want things to be held up.’ The receptionist had my appointment card in her hand and counted how many weeks it was until my March appointment. 8 weeks. She said its 8 weeks til the March one and that’s about normal. I said yeah but surely the Feb appointment was booked for a reason. The dentist said she would ask my ortho when we went in.
When I got called in, my orthodontist came over, she said wow, they have all closed up except that tiny one there, theres hardly anything left to do now, so take the impressions as planned. The girl asked about the Feb appointment being re-arranged etc and she said they’ll be no need, just stick to the March appointment. So the girl did the impressions and it was fine. No gagging, no sensitive teeth, no bits left in my mouth for hours afterwards – brilliant! It didn’t take long at all. She put a new wire (same wire as before) on the top and I was on my way.
Although it didn’t come from the orthodontist, the dentist said I would be attending the March one to compare impressions (i asked if I would be able to take pics of the two to compare and she didnt see why I couldn’t) and make any final adjustments then will be making an appointment for April / May to the surgeon. This is what the plan has been like in my head, so as long as the March appointment doesn’t get cancelled, ill be happy! Ive been waiting for those words ‘ready to see the surgeon’ for so long!!!
Oh yeah and the dentist asked how long Id had the braces on for now, I said a year today – she said wow you really are doing well coz normally its 18 months at least. I said yeah, well I think I was along those lines to start with as my op wasn’t supposed to be until 2017Â but I think because they’ve progressed so well, they keep bringing it forward.

Ive never taken so many pics of myself because theyre awful but I love the transformation of the straight teeth however not so much for the bite and wonky chin!
I am so excited that its gonna be happening in 6 months or so. Cant fricking wait! (Probably wont be saying that on the operation day though!)
