Eek – letters have arrived. Starting to get real now!!!!

Date to see surgeon one last time before op. Apparently here I will having my splint made and final measurements….6th September 

2 days later I’m back seeing a dietitian. Wasn’t expecting this because I was told the dietitian would see me post op (on the ward) but to be honest, I’m not going to remember much when I’m probably going to be high on morphine so this is very wise!! 🙂     8th September

From the dietitian appointment, I then have my pre op!!

Then the big day!!! 26th September!

The countdown is on!

SURGERY DATE!!!!

Tuesday 16th August 2016

Rang the hospital to find out whether my surgeon has any more information on whether my operation will be this year. Before I could even say how frustrating it is not being able to plan things etc, she just said “26th September”

Within seconds, I was racking my brain, trying to think of all my bowling competitions that were taking place in September and whether they would be affected or not.

She then asked if that was okay and I immediately said yes please.

I put the phone down and my manager walked passed – I just said ‘ive got a date’ and literally started shaking.

I then looked at my diary. No bowling tournaments have been affected but I will miss my works annual fun day but no way was I delaying this operation!! As they had already booked train tickets and the hotel for me, they did say they weren’t going to cancel it just in case my op gets cancelled nearer the time (I hope not though). Whilst they’ll be having fun, I’ll be having fun in a hospital bed – not!!

A lot of people have asked me if im excited. I said Yes & No. Yes because it’s getting sorted but no because of how big this operation is and how tough the recovery is going to be.

Even though my dentist still thought September / October, I couldn’t believe it, with it just being next month, so when the lady on the phone said September I was obviously very happy. It means I should be able to eat my Xmas dinner this year!! (Little things amuse me!)

I think it will hit me probably next month and when I’ve had the pre op etc.

Eek – mad rush to get essentials now. Will be here before I know it!!

Final Orthodontic Appointment!

Monday 8th August 2016

So, firstly – I never received that phone call back last week so I rang them on Friday and apparently his response was ‘oh I did promise her, didn’t I?’…..so to me, hes forgotten about me!!

Back to the orthodontist this morning. She did lots of finalising things and asked if I had another appointment. I said that I was seeing her on 30th August but was told she was on holiday so not got anything else booked. They finally cancelled that appointment.

She said she was going to put my SURGICAL HOOKS on at the next appointment but because there has been some c*ck up, she is going to do them today! Just means they’ll be on for a bit longer than normal.

I explained the situation with the phone call last week and she said she’s done with me now – its just a case of waiting for a phone call or letter from Mr Smith. She said he is one of those surgeons whose really organised and so should be able to fit me in for September / October. I said “really?! coz Septembers only next month, and know there’s a bit of prep beforehand”. She said that her bit (the surgical hooks) is all she does and the rest (wafers / splints) is what Mr Smith does. She said she was going to email him to tell him im ready etc and to chase up…..Im still going to ring on a weekly basis. I will no doubt get on their nerves but as I said to the dentist and her assistant, I just want a date so I can start planning things.

She has said that I will see her on 4th October for a check up (if not heard anything before then)

So still no further!!!

Phone Call to Hospital

Just rang hospital to see if I’ve had CT scan results back and the lady said my surgeon had filled in his diary on Friday for the rest of year! I am going to be fuming if my name is not there somewhere! I’m awaiting a call back!
